Cannabidiol (CBD)

No. This is not the same as marijuana, which contains high levels of THC. Our Regular Line is THC-Free, and our Full Spectrum Line contains less than 0.3% THC, which makes it federally legal in the United States.

Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, is one of over 60+ naturally occurring cannabinoid compounds found in Cannabis, an annual herbaceous flowering plant. CBD oil is derived from an organic substance formed in the plant’s secretions. Both marijuana and hemp are forms of cannabis. However, cannabis does not mean marijuana. Cannabis is the genus name and general umbrella term, under which all forms of marijuana and hemp fall. Until recently, delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, was the most well-known and studied cannabinoid due to its abundance in marijuana. However, as the second most prevalent cannabinoid in marijuana and the top non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in hemp, CBD has been gaining momentum in the scientific community and media.

Our CBD products are derived from industrial hemp (not marijuana). However, CBD oil is different from hemp seed oil and organic hemp oil, as these are derived from hemp seeds (not the resin) and do not contain cannabidiol. It can be a bit confusing, we know.

Hello Blue’s CBD oils come from high-CBD hemp crops legally grown in Colorado.  All products are rigorously tested for safety, quality, and cannabinoid content.

This may sound complex, but it’s actually pretty straight-forward. Put on your reading glasses and dust off your high school science book, we’re going to dive in!

Scientifically, industrial Hemp and Marijuana are the same plants, with a genus and species name of Cannabis Sativa. They have a drastically different genetic profile though. Industrial Hemp is always a strain of Cannabis Sativa, while Marijuana can be Cannabis Sativa, Cannabis Indica, or Cannabis Ruderalis. The major difference is how industrial Hemp has been bred compared to a Marijuana form of Cannabis Sativa.

CBD is a phytocannabinoid discovered in 1940 and initially thought not to be psychoactive.  It is one of at least 113 cannabinoids identified in Hemp plants, accounting for up to 40% of the plant’s extract.

Cannabidiol (CBD) can be taken into the body in multiple ways.  It may be suppled as CBD oil containing only CBD as the active ingredient (no added THC or terpenes), a full-plant CBD-dominant Hemp extract oil, capsules dried cannabis or as a presctiption liquid solution.

In the US, the CBD drug Epidiolex has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for treatment of two epilepsy disorders.

Often, marijuana has a high amount of THC and only a very low amount of CBD. Hemp, on the other hand, naturally has a very high amount of CBD in most instances and only a trace amount of THC. Fortunately, the cannabinoid profile of Hemp is ideal for people looking for benefits from cannabis without the ‘high.’ Hemp is used for making herbal supplements, food, fiber, rope, paper, bricks, oil, natural plastic, and so much more, whereas Marijuana is usually used just recreationally, spiritually, and medicinally. The term cannabis oil can refer to either a marijuana or hemp derived oil since marijuana and hemp are two different forms of cannabis.  We only sell the CBD variety, whether suspended in Hemp or Coconut Oil.

In the USA the legal definition of “industrial Hemp,” per Section 7606 of the Agricultural Appropriations Act of 2014, is “INDUSTRIAL HEMP — The plant Cannabis Sativa L. and any part of such plant, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis.”

Products

Since many of our lines include natural additives in addition to CBD, some settling occurs. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you shake the bottle well before each use. Most people get maximum benefit by taking 20-40mg of CBD per day (which is 2-4 droppers full in most of our products). Some like more, some like less, so we always say that you should try different amounts to see what works best for you.

Now we have to throw some legal stuff your way. Not only is it good information, but various governmental agencies require us to do so. Here we go…

Our CBD products are derived from legal hemp plants, grown organically in the USA.  Our non-CBD food supplements are also derived from organic plants.  They are food supplements intended to be thoughtfully incorporated into the diet and taken orally. They are not sold for medical purposes such as preventing or treating diseases or ailments.

These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

THOSE WHO SUSPECT THEY MAY HAVE A DISEASE OR ARE SEEKING HELP FOR A DISEASE SHOULD CONSULT A QUALIFIED MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL.

Our supplements are derived from industrial hemp, not to be confused with marijuana. Industrial hemp is a legal plant from which many popular foods are harvested. Our CBD contains less than 0.3% concentration of THC, the component from Cannabis sativa L that causes a high.

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services also recommends that consumers should be aware of any active ingredients that dietary supplements may contain. An active ingredient of a substance is any component that produces a biological or chemical effect on the body. Our products do contain active ingredients.

Because of their active ingredients, it’s possible to experience side effects when taking dietary supplements. The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services maintains that people are most likely to experience negative side effects by combining supplements or by taking them in place of or in addition to prescribed medicines.

Considered by many to be a very safe plant, hemp has a long and rich history of human consumption. Hello Blue CBD is proud to be a part of this legacy by providing the highest quality CBD and other organic supplement oils.

The suggested serving size for our CBD oil supplements is 40 drops (about 2 tinctures full), but we generally recommend experimenting a bit to see what feels best to you. Some prefer two to three servings a day and some prefer one.  Some prefer 10 drops, and some will use upwards of the max servings per day as indicated on the supplement labels.
